On October 23, the European Council will meet in Brussels. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been invited to participate, European Council President António Costa said.

The President of the European Council issued the statement on October 22 after another massive Russian attack on the territory of Ukraine.

"It will be my pleasure to welcome President Zelenskyy to tomorrow's European Council. We will discuss how to further support Ukraine as it faces Russia's war of aggression," Costa said.

According to him, the European Union's position remains unchanged: support for Ukraine and pressure on Russia will continue.

"Our commitment is unwavering. Our course is clear. We will keep increasing pressure on Russia while strengthening Ukraine in pursuit of peace," the President of the European Council added.

Attack on Ukraine on October 22

Last night, the enemy struck Kyiv with ballistic missiles and drones. As a result of the attack, fires broke out in several districts of the capital, including in multi-story residential buildings.

The Darnytskyi, Desnianskyi, Dniprovskyi, Holosiivskyi, Pecherskyi, and Solomianskyi districts came under fire. At least 10 residential buildings were damaged. Two residents of Kyiv were killed, and another 25 were injured, including five children.

In the village of Pohreby in the Brovary district of the Kyiv region, a woman born in 1987, her six-month-old daughter, and her 12-year-old niece were killed as a result of an enemy strike. A drone hit their house, setting it on fire.

In addition, Russian forces attacked Zaporizhzhia that same night with Shahed kamikaze drones, damaging civilian homes.

Later in the day, the Russian army struck a private kindergarten in Kharkiv with three attack drones while 48 children were inside.

According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukraine was attacked overnight by 433 aerial targets, with 67 impacts recorded at 26 locations. Of 405 drones, 333 were shot down. Of 28 missiles (including 15 ballistic), 16 were intercepted.
