48 children were in kindergarten hit by Russian drone strike in Kharkiv, Ukraine – Emergency service

The Russian army hit a private kindergarten in Kharkiv with three Shahed attack drones. There were 48 children inside, Ukraine's emergency service reported.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, rescuers have now localized the fire in the kindergarten.
"At the time of the attack, 48 children were in the shelter, and all were evacuated to a safe place. Unfortunately, one person was killed and six others were injured," the statement said.
The strike also caused fires in an apartment building and an inactive warehouse.
Earlier, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that during the Russian attack, teachers moved the children to a semi-basement room. Thanks to this, casualties among the children were avoided.
The second floor of the kindergarten completely collapsed during the attack.
Attack on a kindergarten in Kharkiv
In the morning, the Air Force reported the movement of attack drones toward Kharkiv. Later, it was confirmed that the city had suffered a massive attack.
"Russia struck the Kholodnohirskyi district. Preliminary information indicates that it was a Shahed drone. There is a fire at the site of the strike. Information is being verified," said Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
He later specified that the drones had hit a private kindergarten. The strike caused a fire.
"The strike of a Russian drone on a kindergarten in Kharkiv came after a night of massive attacks. Unfortunately, one person is known to have been killed. My condolences to the family," the President said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that there is and can be no justification for a drone strike on a kindergarten.
