Russia struck a private kindergarten in Kharkiv with 3 Shahed drones. There are reports of casualties and injuries.

Weapons

According to Kharkiv mayor Ihor Terekhov, Russia targeted the kindergarten with 3 Shahed drones. As a result of the Russian strike, the second floor of the building collapsed.

A large fire also broke out at the scene. An office located nearby was also damaged. All relevant services are working at the scene.

Victims

According to preliminary data, 6 people were injured as a result of the Russian strike. 5 of them are utility workers who were working at the scene.

One fatality has been reported, a 40-year-old man.

Children

As of 12:15 p.m., there are no children among the victims. Terekhov specified that during the threat of Russian strikes, teachers evacuated them to the basement. Rescuers have now brought all the children out.

According to him, as a result of the Russian strike on the kindergarten, the second floor completely collapsed. The rubble is still being cleared.

Zelenskyy's reaction

According to him, 7 people are known to have been injured. They are receiving medical assistance. All children have been evacuated and are in shelters. According to preliminary information, many are experiencing acute stress reactions.

"There is no justification for a drone strike on a kindergarten, nor can there ever be. Clearly, Russia is growing more brazen. These strikes are Russia’s spit in the face to everyone who insists on a peaceful resolution," he said.

Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine's reaction

The police, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, are documenting Russia's war crimes against civilians and children.

"As of now, one person is known to have been killed, and 7 more have been injured. About 50 children have been evacuated. The number of injured children is being clarified," the statement said.
