Erdoğan suggests seeking 'path of dialogue' to end war in Ukraine
Turkey will increase efforts to end the Russian-Ukrainian war through diplomacy and dialogue based on Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's speech at the UN General Assembly in New York.
The Turkish leader noted that in the third year of the war in Ukraine, "we are still far from establishing a just and lasting peace."
"As the arms race accelerates, the field of diplomacy is gradually narrowing. We will continue to increase our support for efforts to end the war through diplomacy and dialogue based on Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty," Erdoğan said.
The President of Türkiye also assured that his country would continue to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Montreux Convention.
Furthermore, Erdoğan emphasized the ineffectiveness of the UN and called for reforming the organization, particularly the UN Security Council.
Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia
Recently, we reported that Türkiye aims for a swift end to the war in Ukraine. To achieve this, it proposes using peace negotiations that take Ukraine's interests into account.
Additionally, media reports have emerged suggesting that secret negotiations between Ukraine and Russia have already taken place. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy denied such rumors.
"To talk to the Russians, powers are needed, and I have not granted them to anyone," he emphasized.
At the same time, Ukraine has prepared a victory plan, which could facilitate the end of the war. More details about it can be found in the material by RBC-Ukraine.
