Russian forces carried out a combined overnight strike using ballistic missiles and drones across several regions of Ukraine. In particular, Kyiv, Odesa, and Dnipro were under attack. Consequences of the massive attack on Ukraine on the night of February 12 are covered in the RBC-Ukraine report.

Key points:

  • Kyiv, Dnipro, and Odesa were under the main strike. The enemy used 24 ballistic missiles and 219 drones.

  • Kyiv: Two people were injured, and the consequences were recorded on the Left Bank of the capital.

  • On the Left Bank of Kyiv, 2,600 buildings are without heating, and about 107,000 households are without electricity.

  • Dnipro: Four people were injured, including two children, infrastructure facility was damaged.

Kyiv

Russian forces attacked the capital with ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. As of 8 a.m., three locations with consequences and damage were recorded in Kyiv — all in Dniprovskyi and Darnytskyi districts.

In Dniprovskyi district, the facade of a nine-story residential building and cars parked in the courtyard were damaged. At another address, debris from an aerial target fell into the courtyard of a building.

In Darnytskyi district, the facade of a sixteen-story residential building was partially damaged, and the window glazing was shattered.

As of 8:00, two injured people were reported. In particular, a 45-year-old man has explosive injuries to the head and limbs, and a 20-year-old woman has a cut wound to the hand. Both were hospitalized.

In Kyiv, thousands of buildings are without heating, and 107 thousand households are without electricity

After the massive attack, nearly 2,600 buildings in the capital were left without heating. According to the mayor of the capital, Vitalii Klitschko, these are multi-story buildings on both the Left and Right banks of the city.

In particular, in Desnianskyi, Dniprovskyi, Pecherskyi, and Solomianskyi districts. Utility services are already working to restore heat supply to these buildings.

In addition, more than 1,100 multi-story buildings in Desnianskyi and Darnytskyi districts remain without heating after the previous attack.

Moreover, due to a massive attack, 107,000 households were temporarily left without electricity in the Desnianskyi district. Energy workers immediately restored power to critical infrastructure facilities.

In the Desnianskyi district of the capital, emergency power outages are in effect, while temporary schedules are applied for other residents of Kyiv.

Strike on thermal power plant

According to DTEK (Ukraine's largest private energy company), Russia again attacked one of the company's thermal power plants. As a result of the attack, the equipment of the thermal power plant was significantly damaged.

This is already the eleventh massive attack on the company's thermal power plants since October 2025. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, DTEK thermal power plants have been attacked by the enemy more than 220 times.

Odesa and the region

At night, Russians also attacked the Odesa region using strike unmanned aerial vehicles. In the Odesa district, civilian and energy infrastructure were damaged.

As a result of the attack, the facade and roof of an apartment building were destroyed, fires broke out at territory of a market and a supermarket, and 15 private cars caught fire. According to preliminary data, one person was injured.

In Odesa, due to power outages, about 300,000 people were left without a water supply. Nearly 200 buildings are without heating. Work is ongoing to restore systems, and where possible, backup power sources are being used.

Dnipro

At night, the enemy also carried out a massive attack on Dnipro and the district with missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. According to the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, four people were injured in the regional center, including an infant and a four-year-old girl. A boy less than one month old was hospitalized. Doctors assess his condition as moderate.

In addition, several fires broke out due to an attack. The infrastructure facility, private houses, and cars were damaged.

Also in Dnipro, as a result of a massive attack, the heat supply was cut off for 10,000 consumers. The launch of an alternative heat supply source is currently underway. Modular boiler units are being deployed for social institutions.

Enemy unmanned aerial vehicles also struck the Synelnykove district — Rozdorska and Vasylkivska communities. The infrastructure and a kindergarten were damaged there. In the Nikopol district, the district center, Chervonohryhorivska, and Pokrovske communities were affected. The enemy struck with artillery and a first-person view drone.

Kharkiv region

On the night of February 12, Russian forces carried out a combined attack on Lozova in the Kharkiv region using ballistic missiles and strike drones.

As a result of the hits, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged. In particular, a warehouse building of one enterprise caught fire. Garages of a farming enterprise and residential houses were damaged.

As a result of an armed attack, a man and a woman were killed. Six more people were injured and are in a state of acute shock.

Strikes on the energy sector

In the Odesa region, Russians also attacked energy infrastructure. According to DTEK, destruction is significant, and repairs will require a long time to return the equipment to operational condition.

"We are currently working on site: clearing debris. We will do everything possible to eliminate the consequences of the attack as quickly as possible. Priority task is to restore electricity to critical infrastructure facilities," the company added.

What enemy used

According to the Air Force, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 24 ballistic missiles Iskander-M and S-300, guided air missile Kh-59/69, and 219 drones.

According to preliminary data, air defense forces destroyed 16 missiles and 196 Russian unmanned aerial vehicles.

It is recalled that Russian troops have recently intensified attacks on critical infrastructure and peaceful cities of Ukraine.

On February 7, Russia carried out another combined attack on Ukraine, with western regions as the main target. In particular, Russian troops launched a massive attack on key energy infrastructure facilities of Ukraine.

Also, Russian forces attacked Kyiv on January 20 with strike drones and missiles. As a result of the attack, damage was recorded in different districts of the capital.

In addition, on the night of Saturday, December 27, the enemy carried out a double combined strike on Kyiv. Russians targeted the energy infrastructure of the capital.
