Russian troops continue to attack Ukraine's railway infrastructure. Today, February 11, trains and stations in several regions were hit, according to Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration and Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, Oleksii Kuleba.
"This morning, Russia also struck a railway station in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Locomotives, carriages, and infrastructure were damaged. A fire broke out, which was quickly extinguished," Kuleba says.
According to him, there was also another strike on the railway depot in Konotop this morning, causing damage to rolling stock. Russia continues to attack this railway junction in the Sumy region.
"The most important thing is that no employees were injured. Emergency crews are working at the site. This is another targeted attack on civilian logistics and critical infrastructure. Despite the strikes, all services are doing their utmost to resume work as soon as possible," the Deputy Prime Minister adds.
Russian strikes on Ukrainian railway
Due to Russian strikes on railway infrastructure in some areas in various regions of Ukraine, delays in Ukrainian Railways trains are possible. In some areas, passengers will be transported by bus for safety reasons.
Russia has intensified its strikes on civilian railway infrastructure in northern Ukraine – drones hit a locomotive, a diesel train, and tracks in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, injuring a railway worker.
On January 27, Russian troops attacked a passenger train running between Chop, Kharkiv, and Barvinkove (in the Kharkiv region) with drones. The Russian strike resulted in the death and injury of many passengers.
