Russia has intensified its attacks on civilian railway infrastructure in northern Ukraine, with drones striking a locomotive, a diesel train, and tracks in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, injuring a railway worker, according to Oleksii Kuleba, Ukraine's Minister of Development of Communities and Territories.

Russian strikes on Ukrainian stations and tracks

At the Konotop station, a Russian drone struck a locomotive that was supposed to join a passenger train. Near the Tereshchenska station, a railway track was damaged, temporarily restricting traffic for repair work.

One employee injured

One of the drones hit a service vehicle belonging to railway workers who were on their way to repair the tracks. One employee suffered shrapnel wounds and was hospitalized, while the other members of the crew were evacuated.

Diesel train damaged

Russia struck a diesel train at the Snovsk station in the Chernihiv region. The fire was quickly extinguished, restoration work is currently underway, and train traffic is ensured.

Ukrainian railway situation

Russian troops terrorized Konotop for several days.

And on January 27, Russians attacked a passenger train running between Chop, Kharkiv, and Barvinkove in the Kharkiv region with drones, killing and injuring passengers.

After that, Ukrainian Railways announced the cancellation of some trains and temporary changes to the suburban train schedule in the Kharkiv region.

On the night of February 8, Russian troops again attacked the railway infrastructure in the Chernihiv region, resulting in the cancellation of many trains.

Earlier, Ukrainian Railways also restricted train traffic between Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia amid attacks on infrastructure and the detection of Russian drones near the routes. In recent days, Russian drones have carried out at least 7 strikes on railway facilities in Ukraine.
