Drone attack sparks fire in Kharkiv after Russian strike

In Kharkiv, explosions were heard during the night of May 25 as Russian forces attacked the city with strike drones. A fire broke out as a result of the shelling, reports Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
Enemy strike drones were detected in the Kharkiv region since the evening before. The Air Forces reported the movement of enemy kamikaze drones, including towards the city of Kharkiv.
At 1:37 a.m. Kyiv time, the Kharkiv mayor spoke about an explosion in the city amid the drone attack.
Later, he reported a second and third explosion. Residents were urged to stay cautious and remain in shelters until the air raid alert was lifted.
“The third enemy drone strike on the city! Enemy drones are still near Kharkiv. Stay in shelters. Safety above all!” the mayor said in a Telegram statement.
He also mentioned information about a fire at the site of one of the impacts.
Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head Oleh Syniehubov wrote online that the city of Kharkiv is under attack by enemy drones.
“There was a series of explosions in the city. Stay in safe places until the all-clear!” he wrote on Telegram.
Updated: consequences clarified
Later, Tereshov reported that in Kharkiv, preliminary data indicate strikes in the Osnovianskyi, Novobavarskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi districts.
The mayor said that in the Osnovianskyi district, a civilian enterprise was damaged.
"Emergency services are working at the impact sites. The threat to the city remains — a large number of enemy drones are still in the region," he added.
Later, the mayor said that in the Shevchenkivskyi district, there was a hit on an office building.
"There were no casualties or fires. All necessary services are working on-site," the mayor reported.
Shahed drones attack at night
The evening before, Russian forces launched kamikaze drones toward Ukraine. Enemy strike UAVs entered the airspace from the north and south directions. Air defense systems were reported to be active in Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Additionally, during the drone attack, explosions were heard in Odesa, where air defenses also became active.
A series of explosions occurred in Kyiv due to a massive attack by enemy strike drones. In the capital, a five-story residential building in the Holosiivskyi district was damaged, and a fire broke out as a result of the shelling.
Furthermore, in Mykolaiv, a series of explosions were heard caused by an enemy attack using kamikaze drones during the same night.
