Drone attack, explosions and fire reported at oil depot in Kursk region, Russia
In the Kursk region (Russia), explosions occurred overnight on July 28 due to a drone attack. Fires also broke out in several areas, including at an oil depot, report the governor of the Kursk region, Alexei Smirnov, and Russian media.
The governor stated that air defense forces in the region were put on alert amid the threat of a drone attack, and called on the residents of the Kursk region to be careful.
Later, reports of explosions, allegedly due to drones being shot down, started appearing on social media, specifically in the south and southeast of Kursk.
Kursk Telegram channels also mentioned that it was very "loud" in the Medvensky district.
Additionally, amid the repelling of the drone attack, at least two fires occurred in the region: one in the Medvensky district and another in the Kursky district.
Meanwhile, the Telegram channel Shot reported that an oil depot in the village of Polevaya caught fire due to the drone attack. Residents said they heard "several powerful explosions" near the oil depot at night.
"Before this, the distinctive sound of drones flying overhead was heard, and after the explosions, witnesses saw heavy smoke in the sky," the media stated.
Mash Telegram channel reported that there was also an explosion in the town of Sudzha, and a house was on fire in the Medvensky district.
Explosions in the Kursk region
Russian Kursk region has recently frequently reported drone attacks. As a result of such raids, explosions and fires occur at various facilities in the region.
For example, last night, Russia complained about a drone attack on the Kursk region, as well as Bryansk, where explosions were heard and air defense systems were supposedly activated.
Previously, on July 24, the Russians also reported a massive drone attack on Kursk and the region.
On July 16, a fire broke out at a factory in the village of Korenyovo in the Kursk region due to a drone attack. Two days before that, on July 14, drones reportedly attacked the Kursk region, and a television tower caught fire in the town of Sudzha.
