DPRK mercenaries coordinate Russian fire on Ukrainian troops in Sumy region - General Staff

Mercenaries from North Korea are helping Russian forces in the Sumy region by operating drones and adjusting strikes on Ukrainian positions. They are working in the territory of Russia’s Kursk region, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The General Staff reported that Russian occupation forces are deploying units of North Korean mercenaries, sent to war by the regime of dictator Kim Jong Un, to carry out attacks on the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Sumy region.
The mercenaries operate from the territory of Russia’s Kursk region. They conduct reconnaissance using drones, identify positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and help the occupiers adjust strikes on Ukrainian troops in the Sumy region.
"The Defense Forces of Ukraine have intercepted communications between North Korean drone operators and personnel of the Russian army. North Korean UAV operators adjusted the fire of multiple launch rocket systems against Ukrainian positions," the statement said.
The General Staff added that the Russian troops are suffering critical manpower losses amid the complete failure of their offensive in the Sumy region. Therefore, the enemy continues to engage mercenaries from North Korea in active combat operations.
"The Armed Forces of Ukraine are documenting all confirmed instances of foreign formations participating in armed aggression. All forces involved in aggression against Ukraine will be neutralized in accordance with the laws and rules of warfare," the General Staff stressed.
DPRK regime supports Russian aggressors
As is known, North Korea supports Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. In particular, the DPRK has been actively conducting regular covert arms shipments. The Russians may have received over 12 million artillery shells from North Korea. The DPRK also supplies artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, and other military equipment.
In addition, thousands of North Korean mercenaries have been eliminated by Ukraine’s Defence Forces during battles in the Kursk region. According to Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Russian forces would have long ago lost the war if not for support from North Korea and other Kremlin allies.
