Despite Russian attacks, Vance believes energy truce is working

US Vice President Jay D. Vance defends the position that there is an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. He made such a statement at the US Air Base Pituffik in Greenland after attacks on Ukrainian targets in the past few days.
"We trust, but verify. We make sure that what we see from one side is being carried out by the other side, and vice versa. But I think we have made incredible progress," he said.
Vance noted that US President Donald Trump plans to fight every day, and according to him, the US continues to make progress.
"We've obviously got this energy infrastructure ceasefire. We've got a Black Sea commercial ceasefire that I think is almost done," said Vance.
He added that after the ceasefire in the Black Sea, further steps toward a ceasefire will be considered.
Energy ceasefire
It is worth reminding that earlier, President Zelenskyy proposed establishing a no-fire regime in the air and at sea as the first steps to resolve the war. After the meeting of Ukrainian and US teams in Saudi Arabia on March 11, the American side proposed a comprehensive ceasefire. Ukraine agreed to the proposal, but Russia has not yet given a final answer.
During the conversation, US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin allegedly agreed on a ceasefire regarding strikes on energy infrastructure. However, Russia continues to strike Ukrainian infrastructure.
According to Ukrainian Presidential Communications Advisor Dmytro Lytvyn, Russia has launched at least two strikes on Ukraine’s energy sector. It is known that recently Naftogaz facilities were attacked.
