'Could bring end of war closer': Zelenskyy teases new meeting with Trump

The meeting with US President Donald Trump, scheduled for October 17, is expected to be highly substantive and could genuinely bring the end of the war in Ukraine closer, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s evening address.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine has already worked through the military and economic aspects of the upcoming meeting with Trump. The meeting itself promises to be quite substantive.
"This could genuinely bring the end of the war closer: the United States has the potential for such a global impact, and we are doing everything to ensure that others around the world are on the same side with us in this effort," Zelenskyy hinted.
The president added that currently in the US are Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, Deputy Foreign Minister Serhii Kyslytsya, Ambassador Olha Stefanishyna, and other government officials.
"Meetings at their level have already started in Washington. They are preparing the groundwork for discussions with the U.S. leader, as well as with American defense companies — particularly air defense manufacturers — and with representatives of energy companies," Zelenskyy said.
Just a few days ago, it became known that Zelenskyy is likely to meet US President Trump in Washington on October 17. The leaders plan to primarily discuss long-range weapons, strengthening air defense, sanctions against Russia, and energy security.
Prior to this, Zelenskyy spoke with Trump twice by phone over two days. According to Zelenskyy, both calls focused on the issue of strengthening Ukraine’s air defense amid Russian attacks on the energy sector.
According to media reports, the talks between the two presidents were not limited to supplying Ukraine with new Patriot surface-to-air missile systems but also included the transfer of American Tomahawk cruise missiles to Kyiv.
