Zelenskyy confirms his meeting with Trump this Friday

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump, said Zelenskyy during a joint press conference with EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas.
"This week, I will meet President Trump in Washington. I think we need to discuss the sequence of steps I want to propose to the President," Zelenskyy said.
He expressed hope that he would be able to travel to Washington this Friday, October 17.
"I also have some other important meetings with several defense companies. I can't share details about that," the President added.
According to him, meetings with senators and members of Congress are also planned.
"The main topic is air defense. And by the way, I will also meet with energy companies. This was necessary — it was President Trump's proposal. I'll have meetings with certain companies because we have specific needs that must be addressed through various formats. The main topics are air defense and our long-range capabilities to put pressure on Russia," Zelenskyy emphasized.
Zelenskyy–Trump meeting
Earlier today, Financial Times chief correspondent in Kyiv Christopher Miller reported that US President Donald Trump plans to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to RBC-Ukraine, their meeting will take place on Friday, October 17. A source familiar with the talks said the two presidents have recently discussed important and sensitive issues — weapons, air defense, and diplomacy. Because these matters are difficult to handle over the phone, they agreed to meet in person.
Notably, Trump and Zelenskyy held two consecutive phone calls this weekend.
The last time the two leaders met was on September 23 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, which Zelenskyy described as productive. Both presidents later made a series of public statements following that meeting.
