Zelenskyy says he discussed promising ideas for peace with Trump

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he discussed ending the war, the return of Ukrainian children taken by Russia, and Western arms supplies during talks with US President Donald Trump, according to the President’s channel.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described his meeting with US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly as "productive," thanking Trump for the opportunity to hold talks.
Zelenskyy also welcomed the parallel meeting between First Ladies Melania Trump and Olena Zelenska, where the focus was on the fate of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia and supporting efforts to safeguard lives.
"We discussed several promising ideas to bring peace closer, and I hope they will deliver quick results. In particular, we touched on the PURL program, which is already working well, as well as potential projects within this initiative," Zelenskyy said in a statement.
He expressed gratitude to Trump for what he called strong cooperation with the United States. "The President clearly understands the situation and is well-informed about all aspects of this war. We highly value his determination to help end it," he added.

Trump–Zelenskyy meeting
On Tuesday, September 23, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with US President Donald Trump in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
Ahead of the summit, Zelenskyy told his American counterpart that Ukrainian forces had liberated 360 square kilometers of territory and captured a significant number of Russian troops.
Following the talks, Trump wrote on Truth Social that with European support, Ukraine was capable of restoring its territorial integrity and even "going further." At the same time, he suggested the war could continue for a long time.
