Consequences of Russian strikes on Zaporizhzhia: Casualties and fires

In Zaporizhzhia, two people were killed following Russian airstrikes on the evening of March 21, according to updated information. Fires broke out at multiple locations in the city, including on the grounds of a kindergarten and in a high-rise building, reports the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Emergency services clarified that, in Zaporizhzhia, two people have been confirmed dead, with four others injured.
Earlier, local authorities reported one fatality, a 20-year-old, and the regional military administration stated that eight people were wounded, with some in critical condition.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that in Zaporizhzhia, firefighters extinguished fires at a restaurant covering 70 square meters, a summer house, a kindergarten, and an apartment on the 7th floor of a nine-story building, spanning 30 square meters.
One private house was destroyed, and two others were damaged. The shockwave and debris affected nearby buildings.
The State Emergency Service also reported that emergency and rescue operations are ongoing in Zaporizhzhia. A total of 63 firefighters and 16 pieces of equipment are involved in mitigating the aftermath.
Updated: Clarification on the casualties
The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, reported that those injured in the attack continue to seek medical assistance. The victims suffer from burns, mine-blast injuries, and concussions. Among the injured is a nine-month-old infant.
"One woman is in extremely critical condition. Six people are in moderate condition. In total, nine people have sought medical help," Fedorov wrote.
He added that the enemy attack claimed two lives. According to updated information, among the deceased is a 14-year-old girl.
Around midnight, the National Police clarified that, as a result of the Russian strikes in Zaporizhzhia, nine people have been confirmed injured (including the infant) and two people have died (a 41-year-old man and his 14-year-old daughter).
What the Russians used to strike Zaporizhzhia and the resulting destruction
According to the National Police of Ukraine, Russian forces attacked the city of Zaporizhzhia with twelve Shahed-type loitering munition drones.
"As a result of the strikes on residential areas, fires broke out, and civil infrastructure facilities were destroyed," the authorities reported.
In total, six high-rise buildings, one private house, a kindergarten, and a food establishment were damaged in Zaporizhzhia.
The National Police of Ukraine added that the necessary city services are working on-site. A mobile station has been set up to receive reports and claims from citizens affected by the enemy attack. Additionally, individuals can contact local police divisions or call the emergency number 102.

Shelling of Zaporizhzhia on March 21
As previously reported, explosions were heard on Friday evening in Zaporizhzhia and the surrounding region, following the announcement of an air raid alert. The military warned of the threat of kamikaze drones and airstrikes from the enemy.
Initially, it was reported that there were casualties in Zaporizhzhia, with damage to private houses and high-rise buildings. Later, the head of the regional military administration, Ivan Fedorov, stated that at least three fires had occurred.
The number of casualties continued to rise, and one fatality was confirmed.
Additionally, the regional military administration reported that Russian forces launched more than ten strikes on Zaporizhzhia.
"As a result of the attack, residential buildings, private cars, and social infrastructure facilities caught fire. The shockwave and debris damaged nearby buildings," Fedorov wrote in his Telegram channel.
