An explosion in a high-rise building in Belgorod, resulting in the collapse of an entire section, maybe a provocation by the Russian Federation, according to the Telegram channel of Andriy Kovalenko, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC).

"The building in Belgorod seems to have been blown up. The video footage from cameras does not show any falling objects, so all accusations against Russians of shelling by the Defense Forces currently do not correspond to reality," he stated.

Kovalenko did not rule out that this looks very much like a provocation by Russia or an information provocation to escalate the situation, justifying further strikes on residential buildings in Ukrainian cities.

Also, in his opinion, it could have been a domestic explosion, which Russian propaganda is now twisting to accuse Ukraine of shelling the building in its own interests.

What happened in Belgorod

Explosions occurred in Russian Belgorod on May 12. Later, it became known that a section of a multi-story building collapsed.

In Russia, what happened has already been called a terrorist act, blaming Ukraine for it. However, judging by the messages of Russian propagandists, the Kremlin has not yet issued instructions "from above" regarding the incident, as various Telegram channels indicate different types of weapons allegedly used in the attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to the Kremlin's scenario.
