Chinese envoy to visit Ukraine, EU states in March
Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs Li Hui will visit Ukraine, Russia, and several European states to address the "Ukraine crisis." His visit will take place in March, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
"Starting from March 2, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Eurasian Affairs Li Hui will visit Russia, the EU headquarters, Poland, Ukraine, Germany and France for the second round of shuttle diplomacy on seeking a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis," the statement said.
China and Ukraine's Peace Formula
During his speech at the G20 summit in November 2022, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed a Peace Formula to stop Russia's full-scale invasion.
Earlier, a member of the Federal Council of Switzerland, Ignazio Cassis, stated that China should be involved in efforts aimed at ending the war between Ukraine and Russia.
Zelenskyy also urged China to be involved in the peace summit. "China plays a significant role in the world, so we would very much like China to be involved in our formula, in the summit," he said.
However, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not attend the forum on the Peace Formula and did not explain why. At the same time, Beijing stated that China was "welcoming and supporting all efforts aimed at achieving peace."
