The deployment of Chinese peacekeepers to Ukraine is a hypothetical question. China refuses to comment on related rumors, states Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, according to Global Times.

During the briefing, the spokesperson was asked to comment on rumors that the US had allegedly proposed China send its troops as part of peacekeeping forces in Ukraine after the war ends. Guo Jiakun was also asked whether China is considering deploying peacekeepers to Ukraine.

"We do not comment on hypothetical questions," he responded.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also added that China’s position on Russia’s war against Ukraine "has always been fair."

Media Rumors

Earlier, The Economist reported that US officials were proposing that a peacekeeping mission for Ukraine should include not only European soldiers but also Chinese and Brazilian troops.

The news agency claims that US Vice President J.D. Vance allegedly stated that a contingent composed solely of Europeans would be less effective in deterring Russia.

There has been no official confirmation of these rumors so far.

Notably, US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz previously stated that Washington wants Europe to take responsibility for security guarantees for Ukraine.
