China is sending Russia specialized machine tools, equipment, and high-tech machinery used to produce hypersonic missiles with nuclear warheads, including the Oreshnik missile, The Telegraph reports.

According to the investigation, the total value of the supplied technologies and equipment amounts to at least $10.3 billion.

Strike on Lviv and a threat to Europe

At the beginning of the month, Russia used the Oreshnik missile, launching it at the city of Lviv. The missile flew at a speed of about 8,000 miles per hour and hit the target in less than 20 minutes of flight.

The hypersonic ballistic missile can carry up to six warheads capable of striking different targets. Russian officials claim it is impossible to intercept, while Ukrainian and Western analysts warn of a threat to Western countries.

Chinese machinery at the sanctioned missile plant

Chinese computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools play a key role in increasing production. One such vertical carousel lathe was discovered by Ukrainian intelligence at the Votkinsk plant, Russia's main missile production facility.

This is where Oreshnik, Iskander-M, and intercontinental Topol-M missiles are manufactured.

Microchips, bearings, and radars

In addition to machine tools, China supplies Russia with:

  • Microchips and memory boards worth $4.9 billion for precision weapons and fighter jets;

  • Ball bearings worth $130 million, critical for aviation;

  • Piezoelectric crystals for radars and electronic warfare systems worth $97 million;

  • Telescopic sights and measuring instruments for weapons testing.

These components are included in the list of goods banned from export to Russia by Western countries.

Sanctions evasion and growing dependence on Beijing

The publication notes that China has not joined sanctions against Russia, allowing Moscow to bypass restrictions through direct and indirect supplies, including via third countries.

Analysts say that without access to Chinese technologies and the Chinese market, it would be extremely difficult for Russia to maintain the pace of the war and the production of modern weapons.

China–Russia relations

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that China is currently showing no willingness to engage in efforts to resolve the war peacefully. According to him, Beijing's policy effectively strengthens Russia's financial capacity to continue its aggression.

The head of state emphasized that China has significantly increased its purchases of Russian energy resources and has become its largest buyer, while the revenues from exports are used by Moscow to finance the war.

At the same time, US President Donald Trump said that Russia and China are "not even a little bit" afraid of NATO. He stressed that both countries, according to him, are extremely wary of the United States, given the strength of the American military.
