China has shown no meaningful response over the past six months to materials provided by Ukraine regarding the use of Chinese components in Russian weapons, Vladyslav Vlasiuk, the Ukrainian president's sanctions policy commissioner, told journalists.
"Six months ago, they (the Chinese - ed.) received files with comprehensive serial numbers, and in six months, there has really been no response," Vlasiuk said.
At the same time, he noted that the share of Chinese components in Russian weapons is gradually increasing.
According to Vlasiuk, China, the United States, and Japan remain the main countries of origin for foreign components found in Russian weapons.
China helps Russia
Despite its claims of a neutral position in the war against Ukraine, China continues to actively cooperate with Russia. In particular, Chinese companies supply Moscow with dual-use goods that can be used to manufacture weapons.
In April, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine possesses evidence that China has supplied weapons to Russia. Beijing, however, officially denies this.
According to Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service, Russia plans to produce 2 million FPV drones with Chinese components this year for the war against Ukraine.
In addition, Vladyslav Vlasiuk, the Ukrainian president's sanctions policy commissioner, told Reuters that about 60% of the foreign components found in Russian weapons on the battlefield in Ukraine come from China.
