Commenting on Russia's statement that France and the United Kingdom are considering transferring nuclear weapons or related capabilities to Ukraine, Mao Ning says she had no relevant information.
"China has always maintained that nuclear weapons cannot be used and a nuclear war must not be fought. International nuclear non-proliferation obligations should be earnestly observed," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson says.
Russian statements on nuclear weapons
On the morning of February 24, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service made a statement that the UK and France were allegedly trying to transfer nuclear weapons, or dirty nuclear bombs, to Kyiv. As usual for Russia, no evidence was provided.
After that, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, a well-known alcoholic and deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, exploded with hysterical threats. He said that Russia could allegedly use nuclear weapons against the UK, France, and Ukraine if necessary.
On the afternoon of February 24, Vladimir Putin, during a meeting of the so-called FSB Collegium, stated that Ukraine could allegedly use nuclear weapons against Russia.
The UK said that Putin was deliberately lying about Britain's alleged intentions to provide Ukraine with nuclear weapons. He is trying to use lies to divert attention from Russia's crimes.
