China clarifies purpose behind sending envoy to Ukraine, EU, and Russia
China is sending special envoy Li Hui to Ukraine, EU countries, and Russia supposedly to prepare for peace talks, according to Mao Ning, a spokeswoman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
She has stated that Russia's prolonged war against Ukraine "does not serve the common interest of the international community." The spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs adds that China is ready to cooperate to end the "conflict" and achieve its political resolution. At the same time, Mao Ning referred to the war as the "Ukrainian crisis."
"The main objective of the upcoming round of shuttle diplomacy is to build consensus for ceasefire and pave the way for peace talks. China stands ready to continue to play its role and contribute China’s wisdom to seeking a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis," says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman.
