Russian forces carried out a massive drone attack on Cherkasy and the surrounding region overnight on February 2. The assault caused fires and left several people injured, according to a Telegram post by Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration.
“A tough night for the Cherkasy region. Russia launched a massive aerial attack. We are recording the fall of enemy drones at multiple locations, including the regional center, which caused fires,” the message stated.
Taburets also added that four people were preliminarily reported injured. All relevant emergency services are currently on site.
Attack on Cherkasy and the region
This is not the first time Russian forces have targeted Cherkasy. The enemy has repeatedly struck the city with drones and other weapons.
For example, on December 24, Russian units attempted a missile attack on a cemetery, damaging monuments and the Alley of Heroes.
Earlier, on the night of December 18, Russian drones hit critical infrastructure, causing power outages in parts of the city. At least 15 homes were damaged, and six people were injured.
Additionally, the Cherkasy region was attacked on the night of August 30, resulting in damage to a local lyceum and multiple fires.
