Iran has declared a ceasefire violation following a strike on an oil refinery on Lavan Island in the south of the country, according to the Iranian TV channel Press TV.
“In violation of the ceasefire, US-Israeli forces targeted the Lavan Oil Refinery on Lavan Island,” the report said.
According to the Iranian side, emergency services are working at the site after the attack. Security teams and firefighters are trying to extinguish the fire and bring the situation under control.
Earlier, Iran’s Mehr agency also reported the attack. According to its data, airstrikes on the facility were carried out in the morning.
The statement said that at around 10 a.m., facilities at the Lavan oil refinery on Lavan Island had been subjected to what it described as a cowardly attack by enemies.
At the same time, the report did not specify who exactly carried out the strike.
Two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran
On the eve, US President Donald Trump stated that the United States is ready for a two-week ceasefire with Iran, provided a peace agreement is reached during that period.
The Iranian side, in turn, promised to restore navigation in the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks.
At the same time, in an interview with Sky News, Trump said the US is ready to resume military action against Iran if a deal acceptable to Washington is not reached.
