The Canadian province of Ontario will ban American companies from entering into contracts with local agencies and municipalities. The contract with SpaceX will also be terminated, according to the Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, on Twitter (X).

According to him, the province had been spending about 30 billion dollars on purchases from American companies as part of Ontario's development plan. However, these contracts will now be canceled, and American companies will lose tens of millions of dollars in new revenue.

"We’re going one step further. We’ll be ripping up the province’s contract with Starlink. Ontario won’t do business with people hellbent on destroying our economy," Ford wrote.

Tariff war between the USA and Canada

Recently, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing a 25% tariff on Canadian and Mexican imports, as well as a 10% tariff on goods from China. The restrictions will take effect on February 4.

His plan includes introducing a 10% tariff on energy products from Canada.

In response, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau promised immediate countermeasures if the Trump administration imposes tariffs.
