The Canadian government is considering recognizing Palestine as a state, with a decision expected in the coming days, according to CBC News.

"The Canadian government is weighing whether to recognize Palestinian statehood, and whether that recognition would come with conditions," the agency's sources note.

At the same time, it is reported that a final decision has not yet been made. Today, July 30, a government meeting is scheduled to take place to discuss the situation in the Middle East.

Recognition of Palestine by Western countries

On Thursday, July 24, Macron announced France's intention to recognize the Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly session in September. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned Paris' intentions.

In turn, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that his country would recognize the Palestinian state in September. This will happen if Israel does not stop the fighting in Gaza and does not renounce the annexation of land.

Norway, Spain, and Ireland have also previously recognized Palestine as a state. Armenia later followed suit.

The United States, unlike its allies, strongly rejected the French president's plan to recognize the Palestinian state.
