Rubio reacts sharply to Macron’s Palestine recognition plan

The US strongly rejects French President Emmanuel Macron’s plan to recognize the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly in September, according to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the social media platform X.
“This reckless decision only serves Hamas propaganda and sets back peace. It is a slap in the face to the victims of October 7th,” Rubio said.

On Thursday, July 24, Macron announced France’s intention to recognize the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly session in September.
In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned Paris’s plans.
Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is facing pressure from his government and Macron to recognize Palestinian independence.
