Canada will provide a new military aid package to Ukraine worth more than $2 billion. It will include drones, helicopters, and ammunition, stated Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the G7 summit.

Mark Carney announced new military aid to Ukraine: drones, helicopters, and ammunition worth more than $2 billion. Part of these funds will be used for Ukraine's domestic defense production.

He noted that Canada would tailor all military aid to the actual needs of Ukrainian soldiers.

In addition, Carney announced the next tranche of more than $2 billion in proceeds from frozen Russian assets.

"This is our contribution. We will work with our European and other allies to ensure the necessary support. And I want to be clear: this support will remain steadfast until we achieve a just peace," the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister also announced that Canada is now imposing sanctions on a number of Russian individuals, more than 40 companies in Russia and other countries that help Russia circumvent sanctions, and more than 200 vessels of the Russian shadow fleet.

Zelenskyy and Carney also discussed which sanctions could have the greatest impact on Russia's ability to develop its defense production and finance the war.

The leaders coordinated steps to continue diplomatic work with partners within NATO, the G7, and the Coalition of the Willing, as well as cooperation within the UN on unconditional ceasefire decisions.

In addition, Zelenskyy and Carney paid detailed attention to strengthening Ukraine's air defense - the need for air defense systems and missiles for them, as well as deepening defense cooperation. They discussed possible joint weapons production projects and investments in the Ukrainian defense industry.

They also discussed Canada's participation in the development of a program to rebuild Ukraine.
