Bundestag suspects Russia's involvement in incidents at German military bases
Bundestag deputies believe that the incidents at military bases in Germany may be linked to Russian sabotage, Welt informs.
According to Marcus Faber, a representative of the Free Democratic Party and head of the Bundestag Defense Committee, Russia is behind the acts of sabotage at the barracks in Cologne.
"Given the temporal proximity of the incidents at the two barracks, it can be assumed that an adversarial entity wants to demonstrate its sabotage capabilities here with us. The entity most interested in this right now is Putin," he stated.
His opinion was supported by Konstantin von Notz, a member of the Green Party and head of the Bundestag Parliamentary Control Committee.
"Of course, there is suspicion that this could be a Russian sabotage operation," he said.
Notz noted that this is a "specific working hypothesis."
"No one should doubt that such a thing is possible and that Russia has the meticulousness to carry out such actions," Notz added.
Sabotage at military bases in Germany
It was reported earlier today that the Bundeswehr barracks in Cologne-Wahn, Germany, were completely sealed off. Subsequently, it was revealed that authorities are investigating a possible sabotage.
The media also reported another instance of sabotage that occurred at the NATO airbase in Geilenkirchen. There are concerns that the drinking water there may have been contaminated.
