Bulgarian Parliament Committee greenlights missile delivery and F-16 pilot training for Ukraine
The Defense Committee of the Bulgarian Parliament today, on December 7, approved providing Ukraine with faulty anti-aircraft missiles, as well as assistance in training pilots for the F-16, according to Bulgarian National Radio.
It is noted that after lengthy debates, the Defense Committee supported the proposal to provide Ukraine with defective anti-aircraft missile systems.
The proposal, signed by three parties, also includes Bulgaria's assistance in training Ukrainian pilots for the F-16, particularly using Bulgarian airspace.
What else the committee approved
The proposals of the three parties involve Bulgaria transferring defective, outdated portable anti-aircraft missile systems and various types of anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine.
To train in our country up to four Ukrainian infantry or mechanized battalions with a total of 160 servicemen, as well as to participate in the training of Ukrainian F-16 pilots.
The Defense Committee's decision is also expected to be discussed in the plenary session hall. The news agecny writes that due to the extraordinary defense committee meeting held on Thursday, the proposal for further military assistance to Ukraine will appear in the chamber very soon.
Bulgaria's aid
Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Bulgaria has been providing various assistance to Ukraine.
Recently, the Bulgarian Parliament ratified an agreement to supply armored vehicles to Ukraine. Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov recently expressed confidence that the majority in parliament would override the veto imposed by the country's president, Rumen Radev, on the agreement to supply armored vehicles to Ukraine.
Moreover, Bulgaria will allocate around 150,000 euros in humanitarian aid to Ukraine due to the challenging situation caused by Russia's full-scale invasion.
