British PM on Israel-Iran conflict: No one wants regional war
Today, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, is in Brussels. There, he held a press briefing following talks with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, Sky News reports.
The Prime Minister stated that the conversation was "very productive" after both participated in a phone call with G7 members to condemn Iran's strike on Israel.
The Prime Minister added that they agreed on the importance of Israel's right to defend itself and called on all parties to exercise restraint and avoid further escalation.
"No one wants a regional war," the Prime Minister emphasized.
Escalation of the situation in the Middle East
For several months now, the confrontation between Israel and Hezbollah has intensified day by day.
Last week, the IDF carried out a massive airstrike on Lebanese territory, resulting in the elimination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. At that time, Iran promised a response, and on the night of October 2, Iran launched a massive attack on Israel.
Iran stated that this strike was revenge for the elimination of Hamas Political Bureau head Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and IRGC General Abbas Nilforoushan.
