Britain does not want trade war with US: Starmer announces negotiations

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has spoken out against escalating tensions with the US over tariffs to protect the domestic automotive industry, reports The Independent.
According to the Prime Minister, negotiations with the US will continue to ease the situation.
"At a moment like this we have to shape our future, we have to step up, we can't be cowed," Starmer said during his visit to the Jaguar Land Rover plant in Solihull on Monday, April 7.
Trade war of the US
On April 2, US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on most of the world’s key trading partners, a move that will impact trade worth trillions of dollars.
Specifically, for the UK, the US introduced a base 10% tariff on goods exports, as well as a 25% tariff on car exports.
Jaguar Land Rover suspended its car exports to the US due to the new import taxes.
Earlier, Starmer stated that Europe is entering a new era of the global economy due to Trump’s tariffs.
The Prime Minister also noted that Britain would respond to the tariffs with a cool and calm head.
