The United States is preparing for a series of trade negotiations with more than fifty countries, with a key focus on the tariffs imposed by Washington, according to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Twitter (X).

According to Bessent, China has decided to "isolate itself" by imposing additional tariffs on the import of American goods.

"Over 50 countries have responded both openly and positively to US President Donald Trump's historic action to create a fairer, more prosperous system of global trade. We look forward to meaningful negotiations with them over the coming weeks," he added.

US tariffs

On April 3, US President Donald Trump imposed additional tariffs on imports from over 180 countries. At the same time, he warned that if corresponding tariffs are introduced, he could take harsher measures.

Despite this, China also imposed tariffs on imports of American goods. The country called on the US to immediately cancel the decision on tariffs.

Today, on April 7, Trump wrote that if Beijing does not cancel this decision, he will impose an additional 50% tariff on China.
