There are 32 wounded in Zaporizhzhia as a result of the shelling by KABs (guided aerial bombs) on 8 January. The bombs exploded among a crowd of people, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

"Zaporizhzhia. As of now (07:40 PM Kyiv time), 13 people have been confirmed dead, and 32 others have been injured," the report says.

According to law enforcement, most of the victims were outside or on public transport at the time of the Russian airstrikes.

Two strikes, bomb explosions among a crowd of people

The Russian forces launched two strikes with guided aerial bombs (FAB-500 with UMPK) on the territory of Zaporizhzhia.

"They exploded among a crowd of people – near the administrative part of the infrastructure facility and the roadway. Police paramedics saved 5 people," the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

Consequences of the Russian attack

Due to the KAB strike, a building and vehicles caught fire. Firefighters have already extinguished the fire in the administrative building and cars.

A total of 28 vehicles were damaged, including a tram and a minibus. Emergency and rescue operations are ongoing.

Shelling of Zaporizhzhia

Russian forces launched KAB strikes on Zaporizhzhia around 04:00 PM Kyiv time on Wednesday, January 8. The epicenter of the strikes was the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city.

Initially, three people were reported injured and one dead. Later, the number of casualties began to rise rapidly.

According to the latest data, 13 people have died in Zaporizhzhia, and 29 others were injured. Among the victims is a 13-year-old girl. Currently, four people in hospitals are in critical condition.
