Russian army shells Zaporizhzhia. The number of deaths as a result of the Russian strike has now increased to 13 people, according to the statements from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov.

"The enemy targeted residential buildings with two guided aerial bombs. Currently, we know of 13 dead and 18 injured. All the injured are being transported to hospitals. At least four of the victims are in critical condition," reported the head of the Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov.

Fedorov emphasized that the rescue operation is still ongoing and warned that tomorrow, January 9, will be declared a day of mourning in Zaporizhzhia.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian president expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased. He emphasized that nothing is more cruel than airstrikes on a city, knowing that ordinary civilians will suffer.

"The Russians struck Zaporizhzhia with aerial bombs. A deliberate attack on the city," the president stated.

At the same time, the president called on the world to respond to this manifestation of Russian aggression.

"We need to put pressure on Russia for terror. We must support the protection of lives in Ukraine. Such a war can only be ended with a reliable peace achieved through strength," he emphasized.

Shelling of Zaporizhzhia

Earlier today, on January 8, Russian forces struck the industrial infrastructure of Zaporizhzhia with a guided aerial bomb. Initially, it was reported that three people were injured and one fatality occurred as a result of the Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia. Later, the number of injured increased.
