Later, it became known that thirty people were injured as a result of the enemy attack on Zaporizhzhia on January 8.
"They have been taken to hospitals in the regional center. Seven medical teams, police officers, and emergency responders are working at the strike site," Fedorov noted.
Reaction of the ombudsman
The ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets has already reacted to the Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia. According to him, Russia once again confirmed its true nature as a terrorist state by carrying out yet another barbaric shelling of the civilian population of Zaporizhzhia.
"As a result of this cynical crime, there are already reports of fatalities and injuries. Attacking civilians is a war crime, and those responsible must be held accountable in international courts!" he reminded.
Lubinets urged the international community not only to condemn these acts of aggression but also to take decisive action — imposing new sanctions, providing Ukraine with more means for defense, and supporting all efforts to hold Russia accountable.
Shelling of Zaporizhzhia
On January 8, Russian forces struck the industrial infrastructure of Zaporizhzhia with a guided aerial bomb (KAB). Initially, reports indicated three injuries and one fatality from the Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia. The number of injuries later increased.
Russian troops continuously attack Zaporizhzhia. For instance, on September 29, the Russian army launched over 10 guided aerial bomb strikes on Zaporizhzhia. At that time, nearly 20 people were injured, destruction was recorded in three districts, and train traffic was disrupted.
