Body of missing British volunteer found in Ukraine
The body of the missing British volunteer in Ukraine was discovered by law enforcement officials, according to Sky News.
Former paratrooper Daniel Burke, 36, from South Manchester was reported missing on 16 August by family who had not heard from him and believed he had travelled to Ukraine.
Greater Manchester Police said it was working with Mr Burke's family and Ukrainian authorities to support a formal identification and bring his body back to the UK.
"This is an upsetting time for Daniel's family, we have family liaison officers in contact with the family and offering support. My team and I are working with the Ukrainian authorities to make formal identification with a view to repatriating Daniel following that process. Daniel's family have asked for privacy at this difficult time." said Detective Superintendent Lewis Hughes.
Losses among foreign volunteers fighting for Ukraine
Recently, it became known that 22-year-old British volunteer Sam Newey was killed during the fighting in Ukraine. He had been fighting for our country since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion.
Prior to that, a Belarusian volunteer died in the war in Ukraine. He fought as part of the Second International Legion.
In addition, an American Marine who was released from Russia as part of a prisoner exchange last year was wounded in the war in Ukraine.
