Russia has started cooperating with Azerbaijan in investigating the crash of an Embraer 190 aircraft. Officials from four countries will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the cause of the crash, according to the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan.

According to the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan, Russia has stated that it is working on identifying and prosecuting those responsible for the crash of the Azerbaijani airliner. Investigative measures are currently underway as part of the criminal case opened in connection with the crash of the Embraer 190 aircraft, KSK Baku-Grozny flight.

It is noted that extensive investigative work has been conducted at the crash site in Khabeli with the participation of professional investigators and experts from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Brazil to ensure an objective and thorough inquiry into the incident.

Azerbaijani prosecutors working in Grozny have also provided necessary support to their Russian counterparts in the investigation and in the exchange of collected evidence between both sides.

It is known that the head of Russia’s Investigative Committee, Alexandr Bastrykin, called Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev and formed a team of investigators and experts to handle the case.

Air crash in Kazakhstan

On the morning of December 25, a passenger Embraer 190 aircraft of the AZAL airline crashed in Kazakhstan. There were 67 people on board, and 38 individuals died in the crash. The plane was en route from Baku to Grozny.

According to media reports, in Grozny, where drones had been downed earlier, the plane may have been shot down, preventing it from landing. As a result, the Embraer 190 crashed near the city of Aktau. Euronews reports that Azerbaijan confirmed the crash was caused by a Russian missile.

It is important to note that Russia has not yet acknowledged shooting down the passenger plane and is attempting to avoid responsibility. However, Russian President Vladimir Putin called Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev, and they discussed the issue of the plane crash in Kazakhstan.
