Azerbaijan plans to transfer equipment for the restoration of distribution networks to Ukraine by the end of the year, according to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

"The assistance to Ukraine's energy sector and the deepening of cooperation in the oil and gas industry were the main topics of the meeting between the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Seymur Mardaliyev," the statement reads.

Halushchenko mentions that Ukraine highly values cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sector and hopes that this cooperation will continue to strengthen.

Herman Halushchenko thanked Azerbaijan for the support provided to Ukraine's energy sector, which, in particular, helped maintain Ukraine's energy system last winter.

Azerbaijan will transfer another batch of assistance

Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine has received 10 shipments of humanitarian aid for the energy sector from Azerbaijan, including 50 backup power stations and 45 power transformers.

By the end of 2023, another large shipment of new equipment for the restoration of distribution networks is expected to arrive.

Both parties also paid particular attention to cooperation in the oil and gas industry, including issues related to the storage and transit of resources.

"Halushchenko notes that intensifying cooperation between Ukraine and Azerbaijan in this area will not only allow individual countries to reduce their dependence on Russian energy carriers but will also enhance the energy security of the entire region," the Ministry of Energy added.

Azerbaijan's assistance to Ukraine

Since the beginning of Russia's invasion, Baku has provided Ukraine with over a thousand tons of medicines, medical equipment, and humanitarian aid, totaling almost $17 million.

Azerbaijan is one of the leaders in humanitarian aid for the restoration of Ukraine's energy system after missile strikes by Russia.

In August, it was announced that Azerbaijan would provide a new package of assistance to Ukraine.

Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
