Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief and Defense Minister discuss front line situation with Pentagon head
Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi had a telephone conversation with Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin, says Umerov in his X post.
According to Umerov, during the conversation with Austin, they discussed the current dynamics on the front line. Besides, they talked about a common understanding of the situation and a plan of action.
"We informed the Secretary of Defense in detail about the current situation and recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure. I underlined once again: Ukraine needs more air defense systems and missiles," says Umerov.
Patriot systems for Ukraine
At the end of February, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the transfer of ten Patriot air defense missile systems to Ukraine would significantly impact the situation in the war against Russia.
Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba emphasized the need for Patriot air defense systems and other missile defense systems to protect lives.
Kuleba announced on April 4 at the Ukraine-NATO Council meeting that Germany would initiate an immediate search for all available Patriot and other missile defense systems worldwide to transfer them to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that the main message during the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council at the level of foreign ministers in Brussels will be the provision of air defense systems to Kyiv, namely Patriot.
