According to the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD), Russian propaganda has intensified around the sensitive issue of World War II-era historical events, which remains highly significant for Polish society.
The Kremlin is using the topic to spread anti-Ukrainian narratives and fuel social tensions. These messages are being amplified through bot networks on social media.
Russia uses fake stories and AI
The CCD also reported a surge in anti-Ukrainian content generated with artificial intelligence across Polish social media platforms.
At the same time, the number of disinformation campaigns has increased. Among them were claims about a supposed "Ukrainian missile" and allegations that "Poland will finance the Ukrainian Armed Forces for 10 years."
Such narratives are intended to shape negative attitudes toward Ukraine and deepen mistrust between Ukrainians and Poles.
Kremlin's goal
The Center for Countering Disinformation said the spread of such narratives is aimed at artificially increasing tensions in Ukrainian-Polish relations.
Russia seeks to weaken the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Poland through disinformation campaigns and manipulation.
To achieve this, the Kremlin simultaneously exploits sensitive historical issues while using social media, bot networks and AI-generated content.
Earlier, Polish Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk said Warsaw is already preparing for a potential war scenario involving Russia.
At the same time, Polish authorities hope such a scenario can be avoided.
