An explosion occurred in Moscow on the night of December 24 near a police station, killing two law enforcement officers and one civilian. The blast took place close to the site where a Russian general had been killed earlier, according to Russian public sources.

The incident happened approximately 300 meters from the location where, two days earlier, Russian Defense Ministry Major General Fanil Sarvarov was killed in a car bombing.

According to Russian Telegram channels, the explosion occurred at around 1:57 a.m. local time. Initial reports said it took place on Yaseneva Street, where the general's vehicle had previously been blown up.

Later, information emerged that the explosion had occurred near a police station on Yeletskaya Street.

One version suggests that shortly before the blast, an unidentified man ran up to a traffic police patrol vehicle and threw a bag containing an explosive device inside.

Residents reported seeing a suspicious man wearing a mask and a hood nearby. Later, another improvised explosive device was found close to the blast site, but it did not detonate.

Meanwhile, Russia's Investigative Committee stated that police officers had noticed a suspicious individual near their service vehicle. When they approached him, an explosion occurred. As a result, two police officers and a civilian who was nearby were killed.

Russian authorities have opened a criminal case under articles related to attempts on the lives of law enforcement officers and the illegal trafficking of explosive devices.

The explosion site is located on the roadway between a police building and an office complex. The distance to the parking area where General Sarvarov was previously killed is about 300 meters.

Background

On December 22, the car of Major General Fanil Sarvarov exploded on Yaseneva Street in Moscow, in a residential complex housing many Russian military personnel.

Initially, reports mentioned only the death of a serviceman, but it was later confirmed that the victim was Sarvarov, who headed the Operational Training Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces' General Staff.

This directorate is responsible, among other things, for planning the deployment of Russian armed forces, preparing and conducting large-scale military exercises, and analyzing and implementing combat experience.
