In the village of Svesa, located in the Shostka district of Ukraine’s Sumy region, emergency and rescue operations have concluded following today’s Russian airstrike on a residential area. The number of casualties remains unchanged, reports the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES).

Emergency services have reported the completion of search and rescue operations, along with other urgent measures, at the site of the Russian strike in the Shostka district village.

"Canine teams from the State Emergency Service (SES) were also deployed for the search. No individuals were found trapped under the debris," rescuers confirmed.

Final casualty figures remain unchanged: ten people were injured in the airstrike, including two children.

Other consequences of the bombing strike

According to emergency services, the Russian attack destroyed 15 apartments in a five-story residential building and one private house.

"The blast wave damaged approximately 900 windows across four five-story residential buildings and seven private homes," the State Emergency Service (SES) reported.

A total of 46 rescuers and 12 units of SES equipment were involved in the response efforts at the site, the agency added.

As previously reported, on the afternoon of January 4, Russian forces dropped a bomb on a high-rise building in the Sumy region. Initially, five injuries were reported.

Later, it was revealed that the number of casualties had doubled due to the enemy airstrike, reaching ten people.
