A week without a ceasefire memorandum: Zelenskyy criticizes Russia's inaction

Russia has failed to prepare a ceasefire "memorandum" with Ukraine after a week. Moscow is mocking the entire world, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The head of state emphasized the need for a ceasefire, diplomatic steps toward genuine peace, and a new, effective security architecture. Ukraine is bringing partners together to achieve this.
According to him, now is the time to put pressure on Russia in order to achieve results.
"When the Russians have already spent a week drafting their so-called memorandum — which they claim is a response to the need for a ceasefire — it's clearly a mockery of the entire world. How much longer? Every day of war means lost lives. Of course, in Russia, lives are not counted. But the world must count them," Zelenskyy added.
He also stressed that new sanctions against Russia are necessary.
Ceasefire conditions
During negotiations with Ukraine last week, Russia rejected an unconditional ceasefire of at least 30 days.
The two sides agreed to submit written proposals outlining their respective visions for a potential ceasefire.
A few days ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that his country was supposedly ready to work with Ukraine on a memorandum that could include provisions for a ceasefire.
