85 battles since beginning of day, Russian army storming in several directions - General Staff
Since the beginning of the day on August 6, there have been 85 combat clashes at the front. Russian forces continue to assault the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on several fronts, according to the summary from the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Enemy shelling
Bordering settlements in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions continue to suffer from cynical shelling from Russian territory.
Today, artillery and mortar fire affected the areas around the settlements of Porozok, Bobylivka, Katerynivka, Studenok, Bachivsk, Bila Berizka, Mezenivka, Volfyn, Iskrykivshchyna, Basivka, Myropillya, Karpovychi, Hremyach, and Buchky. Additionally, the Russian forces carried out an airstrike on Pysarivka.
At the same time, the Kharkiv region remains under constant bombardment from enemy aircraft. Since the beginning of the day, from the Russian cities of Belgorod and Shebekino, the enemy has carried out two airstrikes using three KAB bombs (guided aerial bombs), targeting the areas around the settlements of Vovchansk and Hlyboke. The Russian troops also struck Kharkiv with an Iskander-M missile.
Situation in the directions
In the Kharkiv direction, there have been two attacks near Lyptsi and Vovchansk, where one battle is still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, there have been three clashes. The enemy advanced towards Synkivka and Kolesnykivka, with one attack still ongoing. Additionally, the Russian forces struck the Petropavlivka area with 18 rockets.
In the Lyman direction, the invading army has stormed our defenders' positions near Makiivka, Torske, Nevske, Terny, and in the Serebrianske forestry 15 times. Twelve battles have ended, and three are still ongoing.
The Russian troops also bombarded areas near Borova with three KAB bombs.
In the Siversk direction, there have been 16 clashes throughout the day. The enemy advanced near Bilohorivka, Verkhniokamianske, Pereizne, Spirne, and Ivanivka. Currently, three battles are ongoing near Bilohorivka and Pereizne.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy has conducted five assault actions near Chasiv Yar and Ivanivske. Defense forces have repelled four attacks, with one still ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, the Russian army has increased their attacks to 13, advancing near New York, Toretsk, and Pivnichne. Ten battles have ended, and three are still ongoing.
Additionally, the invaders carried out 20 airstrikes, dropping 26 KAB bombs on Klevan-Byk, Katerynivka, and Toretsk.
On the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian army carried out assault actions in the areas of the settlements of Vozdvizhivka, Novooleksandrivka, Zhelanne, Oleksandrivka, Kalynove, Vesela, Ivanivka, Kalynivka, Skuchne, and Yasnobrodivka. The defense forces are holding back the Russian troops' assault and have repelled 14 attacks; eight clashes are ongoing. The enemy losses in this direction are being clarified.
The enemy also conducted 11 airstrikes on Oleksandropil, Novohrodivka, Mykolayivka, Zhuravka, Skuchne, and Mykhailivka.
In the Kurakhove direction, the enemy attacked near Krasnohorivka and Kostyantynivka seven times, suffering losses.
In the Hulyaipole direction, the enemy, using aviation, struck 12 NARs (unguided aerial rockets) in the area of the settlement of Zaliznychne.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the Russian army also had no success, attacking our troops' positions twice.
"On other front directions, the situation remains largely unchanged," the General Staff added.
Situation on the front and Russian losses
According to the General Staff, on August 5, there were 133 combat engagements along the front line. One-third of the battles occurred in the Pokrovsk direction.
During the past day, enemy losses in personnel amounted to 1,050 soldiers. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Russian army has lost approximately 585,140 soldiers.
Yesterday, the Armed Forces of Ukraine also destroyed 4 tanks, 8 armored combat vehicles, 39 artillery systems, 36 drones, 6 rockets, and other enemy equipment.
