5G pilot in Ukraine to expand to Kharkiv and Borodyanka this fall

This fall, Ukraine will expand pilot testing of 5G technology. In addition to Lviv, Kharkiv, and Borodyanka, the project will also involve Kyiv, according to Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Stanislav Prybytko, in an interview with Forbes Ukraine.
5G testing
The full launch of the technology has been postponed until the end of martial law, but testing is already planned in three cities — Lviv, Kharkiv, and Borodyanka.
Nearly 22% of all phones in Ukraine support 5G technology. According to Prybytko, a large part of Ukraine's territory could be covered by 5G service by 2030.
Who is Stanislav Prybytko?
Prybytko is one of five new deputy ministers under Ukraine's Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, who was appointed in July 2025. Previously, he headed the ministry's division for mobile internet development. In his new role, his responsibilities also include developing fixed internet.
In May 2023, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced the commencement of 5G testing in Ukraine.
Initially, the new generation of communication appeared only in selected locations in several cities.
Additionally, the fifth-generation network will now be available at one of the higher education institutions.
