12 oil tanks destroyed in Russia's Taman: Ukrainian drone unit reveals details

Ukrainian drones struck four oil refineries and a major maritime terminal in Russia over the course of four days, inflicting significant losses, says Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces commander Robert "Madyar" Brovdi.
Twelve fuel tanks destroyed in Taman
The heaviest losses were reported in the Taman maritime terminal in the settlement of Volna in Russia's Krasnodar Krai. There, Ukrainian drones destroyed 12 fuel storage tanks, each with a capacity of 5,000 tons.
Estimates indicate that the amount of fuel is equivalent to the capacity of about 1,000 railway tank cars. The fire at the terminal reportedly spread across more than 17,000 square meters.
The strike on the terminal was conducted on July 30 by the Birds unit of the 1st Operational Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces, together with the 413th Separate Unit Raid of the Unmanned Systems Forces and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
Which other refineries were hit
Over the same four-day period, Ukrainian drones also struck extra four Russian oil refineries:
- Bashneft refinery in Ufa, Bashkortostan, struck on August 2 by the Birds unit of the 1st Operational Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces
- Saratov Oil Refinery, also struck on August 2 in a joint operation involving the 412th Separate Brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces and other Ukrainian Defense Forces units
- Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka refinery in Volgograd, struck on July 31 by the 1st Operational Center and the 414th Separate Brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces, cooperatively with the SBU and Ukraine's military intelligence (HUR)
- Lukoil-Permnefteorgsintez refinery in Perm Krai, struck on July 30 by the 1st Operational Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces.
Ukrainian strikes on Russia's fuel infrastructure have continued for weeks. In late July, drones targeted the strategically important Taman port, triggering a major fire.
Initial reports on the damage to the terminal infrastructure emerged shortly afterward.
The General Staff of Ukraine later officially confirmed the strike on the Volgograd oil refinery.
