Trump confirms meeting Zelenskyy on Friday

US President Donald Trump has confirmed his intention to meet with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy this Friday, October 17, according to a White House broadcast.
At the moment, the US president was speaking with reporters aboard Air Force One. During the exchange, journalists asked whether he would host Zelenskyy at the White House this Friday. Trump responded affirmatively.
"I think so. Yes," he said, before bidding farewell to the press, as it was the final question of the brief conversation.
Trump–Zelenskyy meeting
Earlier this week, The Financial Times reported that US President Donald Trump plans to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The meeting is scheduled for Friday, October 17. A source told the outlet that Trump and Zelenskyy have recently discussed important and sensitive topics, including weapons, air defense, and diplomacy. Since these issues are difficult to address over the phone, the two leaders agreed to meet in person.
Over the past weekend, on October 11 and 12, Trump and Zelenskyy held two phone calls.
The last time the two leaders met was on September 23 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, which Zelenskyy later described as productive.
On October 13, Hamas released the remaining Israeli hostages, while Trump and three Middle Eastern leaders signed a peace agreement on the Gaza Strip. Ahead of that accord, Trump stated that ending the war in Ukraine would be his next priority.
