Ukraine has already prepared a list of names for a prisoner exchange with Russia on a 1000 for 1000 basis. It has been handed over to the Russian side, states Andrii Yusov, Deputy Head of the Coordination Headquarters for Prisoner of War Affairs, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.

"Ukraine has handed over the list for the exchange," he said.

Thus, Yusov effectively denied the claim made by the Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov. Just over an hour ago, Peskov said that Russia supposedly had not received the list of names for the prisoner exchange from Ukraine and was still "waiting" for it.

Prisoner exchange

A possible prisoner exchange on a 1000 for 1000 basis became the main outcome of the talks between Ukrainian and Russian officials held last week in Istanbul.

The Head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, Kyrylo Budanov, suggested that such an exchange could take place as soon as this week.

Today, May 22, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after a meeting regarding the prisoner exchange, announced that Russia has handed over its list of names to Ukraine.

This information was confirmed by Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

Earlier, the head of state emphasized that, as part of the preparation for the 1000 for 1000 prisoner exchange, Ukraine is verifying every surname.
