Political scientist points out main intrigue in Trump’s special envoy's upcoming trip to Europe

The US President's Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, is expected to arrive in Kyiv on February 20 after Munich. However, it remains unknown where he will be on February 17-18, states political scientist Volodymyr Fesenko in a comment to RBC-Ukraine's YouTube channel.
"The main intrigue lies in the dates. Keith Kellogg will be in Munich from about February 14 to 16. He is expected to be in Kyiv on February 20. But where will he be on the 17th and 18th? Well, on the 19th, he'll be traveling. Anyone who's traveled between Munich, Davos, and Kyiv knows — it’s almost a full day’s journey. The same goes for foreign guests. They still have to take the train and travel to Chełm or Przemyśl. So, where will he be on the 17th and 18th? One option is meetings in Europe," noted the expert.
According to him, this is very good. He pointed out that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will also be meeting with European ministers, and Kellogg will likely be engaged in some negotiations in Europe.
"This means that our proposal for Europeans to be involved in the negotiations is working, at least at this level. That’s already good. As is the fact that negotiations with Ukraine have reached an official, public official level," Fesenko emphasized.
At the same time, he did not rule out the possibility that, during those days, Kellogg might meet with someone from Moscow, perhaps somewhere near Munich, in Vienna, Budapest, or even Türkiye.
"This would be logical. After all, he is a special representative for negotiations not only with Kyiv but also with Moscow. Therefore, I think the main intrigue is whether he will meet with a representative from the Kremlin, who it will be if it becomes known, and what the results and consequences of that meeting will be. I also believe that in Kyiv, and possibly in potential negotiations with a representative from Moscow, the question of when, where, and in what format, with what agenda, the working negotiations on the terms for ending the war in Ukraine could begin will definitely be discussed," the expert explained.
In his opinion, Ukraine is already approaching these negotiations, and in mid-February, there will likely be a surge, especially in the relations between the US and Ukraine regarding these negotiations.
"And possibly the start of Keith Kellogg’s mission, not only regarding Ukraine but also possibly concerning Russia," Fesenko concluded.
At the end of last month, Fesenko already mentioned that negotiations on ending Russia's war against Ukraine could begin in the coming months.
Kellogg will attend the Munich Security Conference
It was recently announced that Kellogg will attend the Munich Security Conference, which will take place from February 14 to 16.
However, as is known, Kellogg will not present a peace plan for the full-scale war during the Munich Security Conference.
